When: Sat, January 19, 7pm – 9pm
Where: The Depot at the northern terminus of the West River Trail in South Londonderry on Rt 100, across from the Londonderry Inn
Description: In
March 2012, Beverly and Jim Philip went to Peru to hike the Inca Trail.
They took 3 days first to explore the remains of the Inca royal city
in Cuzco and the nearby agricultural Sacred Valley. There, they saw an
Inca crop development station and Inca salt pans, which still produce
commercial salt, as well as ruins of several large cities. Then they
began their 4-day trek along the heights of the Andes on the original
Inca Trail. They crossed passes up to 13,800ft, visiting Inca towns,
fortresses, and traveler way-stations. The trek culminated at the Sun
Gate, at the high entrance to Machu Picchu, the “lost city of the
Incas”. To complete their trek, Beverly & Jim also hiked the face
of Wayna Picchu before returning to civilization.
