Wilderness First Aid on 8/10

Registration is still open for the summer Wilderness First Aid course! Add to your backcountry
safety skills and emergency preparedness with this 16-hour course at GMC headquarters in
Waterbury Center on Saturday, August 10 and Sunday, August 11. Learn and practice how to prevent, recognize, and treat injuries and illnesses in the backcountry. CPR certification and Wilderness First Responder recertification are also available.

Summer Wild Mushroom Foray and Tasting

Join GMC and Ari Rockland-Miller of The Mushroom Forager on a tour of summer’s wild flavors at GMC headquarters on Sunday, August 24 at 10 a.m. When summer rains fall, the forests of Vermont can harbor a great diversity of wild mushrooms, including choice edibles like chanterelles, black trumpets, and porcini. This program will feature a colorful presentaHon introducing Vermont’s top gourmet edibles and how to safely, ethically, and fruirully pursue wild mushrooms. Then, join us on a guided foray as we explore the woods around Green Mountain Club. Stick around for a tasting after the hunt!

Toddler and Kid-Friendly Hike

Join GMC’s Membership Coordinator Rick and his 1 year old, Bright, for a family-friendly hike on the Long Trail to Duxbury Window on Saturday, September 14 starting at 9:30 a.m. The 3.1 mile out-and-back hike is open to all caregivers and children, and will be paced for little legs and those hiking with backpack carriers (slow-to-moderate).

Come prepared with bug spray, sunscreen, snacks and water, and to have enjoy the outdoors with your little ones. Hikers and mini hikers are welcome to do as much or as little of the hike as you’d like.
